FACILITATION SERVICE
As a facilitator, my role is to ensure a productive and impartial meeting or event where the group has a common purpose such as making a decision, solving a problem or exchanging ideas or information.
I have been trained by the BBC in a range of Creative Facilitation techniques which bring new ways of thinking to the group and can help to generate new ideas and innovative solutions.
This may cover some or all of the following, as we agree in advance:
Prior to the meeting, I will:
- Work with you to understand the purpose and outcome of the meeting
- Ensure all stakeholders have been identified and can attend
- Brief attendees on the purpose of the meeting and potential outcomes and consequences
- Set the agenda with you and discuss how each item should be tackled and how long each should take
- Share the agenda with attendees and amend as necessary
- Make practical arrangements including layout of the room
During the meeting, I will:
- Monitor the agenda
- Keep time
- Manage the group process
- Encourage participation from all attendees
- Help participants understand different points of view
- Foster solutions that incorporate diverse points of view
- Record agreements in agreed language
- Note unresolved issues for later debate
After the meeting, I will:
- Write up and publish the results of the meeting to everyone concerned including those who could not attend
- Follow up with you to assess the success of the meeting
- Follow up with the stakeholders to assess their response to the meeting and it’s outcomes and feedback to you
I do not:
- Lead the group
- Distract from the purpose of the group
- Seek to entertain
